Light
Gauge Steel used in building construction is High Strength Steel
ranging in thickness from 26-14 gauge, depending on the circumstances.
Since the Gauge measurements are not very precise the industry has
adopted MIL thickness measurements which represent thousandths of an
inch in thickness. The products Custom Cut Steel is focusing on are the
structural elements of a building (load bearing) which are made of
steel between 33 mils and 57 mils thick with G60 Galvanize coating or
.6 oz of zinc total on 1 square foot of steel. That works out to .3 oz
per side or about 0.5 mil per side which provides corrosion protection
for the steel beyond the life of the building. Based on recent field
trials, if used in approved applications, the zinc can ensure
structural integrity of the steel beyond 1000 years.
Our
steel is purchased mill
certified to ASTM standards in coils of up to 6 thousand pounds
slit to production widths from 5 to 15 inches.
Coils of flat slit steel are
roll-formed in a machine that punches, dimples and shears to specifications for a customers
building. The material will either be bundled for transport
to the construction site or assembled in factory and shipped ready for installation by the customers crews.
CCS also sells bulk studs
and cut to length studs to wholesale outlets and contractors as production time permits.
